Inclusive Positive Behaviour Support Plans

Developed in collaboration

Positive Behaviour Support plans are developed with the participant and the teams supporting the participant. Our aim as a collaborative team is to improve participant outcomes to see an increase in quality of life. We work from a strengths-based framework, and we build skills and develop strategies to reduce or eliminate restrictive practice and behaviours of concern.

  • Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSP’S) work with participants and stakeholders to develop plans to reduce and eliminate restrictive practice for people who access the NDIS.

  • Sometimes an interim report needs to be completed. This details the nature of a restrictive practice.

  • Your practitioner will work with you to help identify what your triggers are and what are the behaviours of concern.

  • Strategies will be developed to implement in the environment.

  • Data will be collected and used to support a hypothesis and make predictions.

  • You and your team will be supported throughout the journey.

  • Positive Behaviour Support Plans are created with respect, and they work to protect individuals, families, and service providers.

  • We use a person-centred approach.

  • We are transparent and open with all the work we do.

  •  We create Functional Behaviour Assessments.

  • We work with individual strengths to increase the capacity of individuals, families, and carers.

  • Above all, WE COLLABORATE

    Advanced Behaviour Practitioner: P1317395
    Director

I have lived in the Redlands area for over 15 years, and I have two lovely boys 10 and 16 and they attend local schools in the area. I am 40 years old, and I have a lot of public service experience.

I worked for 11 years in the public sector as a dental surgeon’s assistant. In this role I assisted very vulnerable patients during procedures and after procedures. To best assist my patients, I had to be highly skilled and experienced in CPR, first aid and wound dressing. After a long stint in the public sector, I decided I wanted to do more for vulnerable people, and I wanted to focus on working with families, so I decided to undertake additional study.

After I graduated with a bachelor degree in social work with a major in psychology (specifically Behaviour Change) I went to work for an organisation in the child protection industry. It is though this role that I worked with exceptionally vulnerable and beautiful children. I developed my skills to work with sexual abuse and trauma, fractured families, substance abuse, disability (as a result of abuse) and neglect. After about a year, I decided I wanted to continue my studies and I undertook a post graduate master’s in social work.

After I graduated from my Master’s, I worked for a NDIS organisation as a Support Coordinator, shortly after this role (6 months), I worked as Behaviour Practitioner for another organisation. During this role I had a heavy case load however I developed and implemented several PBSP’s working with participants who had a range of disabilities. My skill is in the training. This is my favourite part.

corinne

I decided that after 6 months, I wanted to branch out on my own and start my own business, so I was no longer confined by a heavy case load and restricted with my practice framework. I have been slowly developing my business over the last 2 years and my reputation for exceptional work in the industry is beginning to show.

As an Advanced Behaviour Practitioner, I specialise in complex cases with experience in forensic, secure mental health and other significant mental health diagnosis.

I am the Director of Behaviour Collaborations, and I over see my team of practitioners offering supervision and leadership.

Eliot Wilkins

Hi, I’m Eliot, I am a University of Queensland graduate with a Bachelor of Psychological Science with honours. My honours thesis examined school connectedness and school sport and the effect on adolescent positive bystander behaviour. My research aimed to clarify the positive psychology changes individuals or groups could make to environment and circumstance that would best improve adolescents’ health and development outcomes.

My psychology education has been hugely beneficial when designing programs for juniors as well as being able to help athletes shift focus as their circumstances and priorities change.

I am a driven to help others and make a positive difference in people's lives. As a behaviour support practitioner, I have extensive experience with Schizophrenia, FASD, ASD, ADHD, ODD, DCD, Justice and reintegration. I work with both adults and children, as well as their families and their extended support networks, that are essential to the person's overall goals and wellbeing. I am available both as a behaviour practitioner and as a councillor.

Jason Brien

Hello, my name is Jason, and I hold a Bachelor of Psychological Science. As a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner I work with a wide range of NDIS participants - from young children (aged 3+) to older adults (60+). I have experience supporting individuals with complex needs and a variety of diagnoses, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (Levels 2 and 3), Intellectual Disability (moderate, severe, and profound), Prader-Willi Syndrome, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, ADHD, Cri du Chat Syndrome, MECP2 Duplication Syndrome, Dementia, Stroke, Personality Disorders, and many more.

I take a person-centred, strengths-based approach to behaviour support and always aim to understand the underlying needs behind behaviours of concern. I work closely with participants, families, carers, and support teams to develop practical, evidence-based strategies that improve quality of life, promote independence, and reduce restrictive practices wherever possible.

I believe in building strong, respectful relationships with the people I support and ensuring that their goals, preferences, and cultural values are central to all planning and decision-making. I value collaboration, open communication, and ongoing learning, and I am committed to providing high-quality, ethical support that truly makes a difference. While the role can be challenging, it is incredibly rewarding to see positive change and to empower people to live more meaningful, safe, and connected lives.

Belinda Witts

Hello, my name is Belle. I have a bachelor’s degree in Psychological Science and Criminology and Criminal Justice and I grew up in the Redlands, where I am now raising my daughter in the area. I have always had a passion for helping people which started in my youth and continued into adulthood. I have been lucky enough to spent time working with a variety of people, throughout my life.

I have worked with a variety of diagnoses in many capacities. From volunteering for years with Girl Guides Queensland, this opportunity gave me the chance to work with young people in an educational setting. To being a support worker, for adults with a variety of diagnosis who have helped me to understand the needs and goals of a range of disabilities.

I have worked in Australia, South Africa, and Mozambique in a multitude of different capacities. I have experience in youth work, personal support and customer service. These opportunities have taught me about the unique perspectives of people from different backgrounds and cultures.

As a positive behaviour practitioner I am able to utilise the skills and knowledge I have gained in a positive and rewarding manner. The most rewarding outcome for me, is when I can actually see my participants achieving their goals and making real sustainable change. I enjoy work closely with my people's teams to provide support, skills, and strategies which assist in bringing about the positive lasting change they seek.

Jennifer Rose

I was blessed to be able to move from the UK to Australia 6 years ago. I grew up in London and then moved to the Suffolk coast to raise my children. I am a positive person with a drive to find joy where I can. I love being able to see the sun and the ocean here in Australia rather than the rain of England. I have a grown son who lives with Prader-Willi Syndrome.

I worked for almost 18 years as a Psychology Lecturer and since moving to Australia have worked for Child Safety and the NDIS. I graduated with a bachelor degree in criminology and minor psychology. I then gained my teaching qualification and studied for a Certificate in Further Professional Development at Cambridge University. Whilst at Cambridge I had a paper published relating to closing the gap in education for vulnerable young people.

l have valued experience and qualifications in education as well as therapeutic roles, and a passion for making a difference in the lives of those living with disability. As a behaviour practitioner I focus on rapport building with no judgment or criticism. My goal in working with families is to help individuals develop positive behaviours and reduce or eliminate harmful or disruptive behaviours.
